Five Liebmann, Conway, Olejniczak & Jerry, S.C. attorneys were named Wisconsin Super Lawyers or Rising Stars in 2011. Greg Conway, Tom Olejniczak, Fred Schmidt and George Burnett were listed among the top attorneys in Wisconsin for 2010 by Super Lawyers magazine. Each year, only five percent of the lawyers in the state receive this honor. This is the seventh consecutive year Greg Conway and George Burnett have been named Wisconsin Super Lawyers.
David Weber was also listed as Rising Stars by Wisconsin Super Lawyers magazine. These attorneys are either under 40 years old or have been practicing law for less than ten years. Only 2.5% of the state's attorneys are selected as Rising Stars. This is David's fourth recognition as a Rising Star.

Local Dancing with the Stars Competition to Feature Liebmann, Conway Attorney

Attorney Tricia Nell will participate in the 4th Annual Dancing with the Stars to benefit the American Red Cross. This event will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Radisson Hotel, Green Bay.
Tricia and nine other local celebrities will be trained in two ballroom dancers by DanceSport of Green Bay. Their dance partners will be accomplished and skilled college-aged dancers from DanceSport of Green Bay.
The winner of the Mirror Ball Fundraising Trophy will be the dancer who raises the most funds via votes. Votes will be cast in the form of dollars donated in support of the star dancer, both at the Dancing with the Stars event and dollars pledged in the name of the dancer prior to February 18. Awards presentation include "Judge's Choice" and "People's Choice" trophies.
All proceeds for the event go to support local programs and services for the American Red Cross.

Will concentrates his practice in family law matters including divorces, child custody disputes and child placement disputes. Having served as a judicial intern for the Brown County Family Court, Will has experience working with the local family law system. Will also practices municipal law, administrative law, and is a member of both the firm's intellectual property team and the general litigation team.
A graduate of Marquette Law School, Will and his family now reside in Wrightstown. Will is actively involved in the Wrightstown Lions Club and the Wrightstown-Greenleaf Optimists Club and is on the board of trustees for St. Clare Parish.

Plaintiffs' Verdict
On March 3, 2011, David Weber obtained a plaintiffs' verdict in a jury trial before Judge Todd Ehlers of Door County, Wisconsin. The Plaintiffs were unable to get their title insurer to defend title to their property when their neighbors asserted that they lacked a right of access. The title company claimed that the Plaintiffs did enjoy a right of access, and, even if they did not, that there was no stated loss under the Policy. The jury disagreed and awarded $50,000.00 in compensatory damages and $1,000,000.00 in punitive damages.
Wisconsin Supreme Court Oral Argument
Tom Olejniczak appeared before the Wisconsin Supreme Court on March 2, 2011 and presented an argument in a case involving the ability of the Circuit Court to make orders disposing of assets of secured creditors under Chapter 128, the Wisconsin Receivership statute. Watch Video of the Argument.

Air Regulations Seminar on Tuesday, February 8th
New particulate matter, ozone, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and lead ambient standards are set to cause headaches for a broad range of New North industries in 2011. An upcoming seminar geared toward environmental managers will offer perspectives and guidance on the topic to help businesses comply.
Bonestroo, Inc. (formerly Northern Environmental) and Liebmann, Conway, Olejniczak & Jerry, S.C. will host the breakfast seminar on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. The seminar, entitled "Change is in the Air…Regulations" is scheduled for 7:30-9:30 a.m. at our office located at 231 South Adams St. in Green Bay.
This seminar is part of a series focused on today's most pressing environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) issues. Presenters include Jodi Arndt, an attorney for LCOJ, and Rick Osa, QEP, an air quality engineer at Bonestroo. They will review the current status of the ambient standard revisions and explore how it may constrain existing and new industrial operations in Wisconsin and the Midwest. Emphasis will be on the "big picture" elements that factor into long-term asset decisions.
The seminar series provides an opportunity for managers to stay up-to-date on EH&S issues and share insights with industrial-sector peers facing similar challenges. In addition, each session features presentations by subject experts, from attorneys to consultants and regulatory officials. Following the presentations, roundtable discussions will encourage idea-sharing and networking.

About the Program:
The new administration in Washington and fiscal pressure here in Wisconsin are combining to change agency EH&S priorities. Increased enforcement emphasis comes at a bad time for industry as it continues to reel form economic recession. Decreased staffing levels and increased responsibilities make compliance assurance increasingly challenging. During this seminar, we'll review what the regulatory agencies say their priorities are, and what recent enforcement actions show the danger areas to be. Participants will share their insights, comparing recent Wisconsin compliance surveillance/enforcement experience with that in other jurisdictions.
The EH&S Roundtable provides an informal setting for industrial and commercial facility managers with EH&S responsibility to receive the latest information on timely issues - and share insights with their peers.

LCOJ Supports Local Earth Week Events

As part of the firm's green initiative, Liebmann, Conway, Olejniczak & Jerry, S.C. co-sponsored the events scheduled during the week surrounding Earth Day, April 22nd. Earth School Day was the project of Attorney Jodi Arndt, the firm's "greenest" attorney.
Earth School Day was designed to bring environmental awareness to the community's youngest citizens. The Greater Green Bay Earth Week Coalition reached out to all the elementary schools in the immediate Green Bay area and offered to have a volunteer come into the classroom and read Dr. Seuss' classic environmental tale The Lorax. An overwhelming response had volunteers visiting more than fifty kindergarten through third grade classrooms on April 20th and 21st.
In addition to the individual classroom readings, Jodi Arndt read The Lorax at a full-school assembly at Susie C. Altmayer Elementary in De Pere, on April 21st.
The Greater Green Bay Earth Week Coalition's goal is to increase public awareness about conservation issues and sustainability efforts in the Green Bay area by creating a week of diversified events surrounding Earth Day that appeal to different ages, abilities, and interests in order to engage the whole community. Jodi is an active member of the organization.

This series highlights architectural points of interest in the Green Bay area.
In his narration, Fred speaks to the focus on acoustic design that makes Cofrin Hall an exceptional performing arts facility.
Fred had been involved with the Weidner Center since its inception and is an avid supporter of the arts in our community.

Corporate Report Wisconsin Legal Industry Report

Attorney Tom Olejniczak was quoted in February's issue of Corporate Report Wisconsin. In its Legal Industry Report titled, 'A Challenging Time,' Tom addresses the economic downturn and its impact on the legal industry saying,
"Any practice tied to economic activity is affected by the downturn. Real estate and construction law, and business mergers and acquisitions are the two most pertinent examples."
The article also addresses the issue of hiring in an economic downturn. Regarding this topic, Tom says,
"As for law firm hiring, anecdotally, we have heard that times are slow. But our office's two-year plan is on schedule. We added two new lawyers in June 2008 and will continue employing two law clerks during the summer."
