A 'Green' Day at LCOJ
|
 |
July 3, 2008
To build enthusiasm around the new Green Initiative at the firm, Thursday, July 3rd was filled with activities that focused on educating employees as to the choices we have that impact the environment. Activities included; a ride your bike to work challenge; fair trade coffee from Luna Café; locally grown Farmers Market snacks; a walk to lunch initiative and, of course, a happy hour of locally brewed beer from Hinterland and Titletown Brewery. The firm is also starting an aluminum can drive with proceeds to be donated to local environmental groups that will be selected on an annual basis by the firm’s Green Initiative Committee.
In a very short time LCOJ has made some big strides in its green efforts. All paper now has a minimum recycled content of 30%; bottled water has been replaced with glasses and water coolers; a bike rack now lives in the parking lot; staff and attorneys are encouraged to print double-sided; disposable plates and silverware were replaced with the real thing and automatic light switches were installed in the attorney’s offices.
Fact Sheets that were distributed on 'green' day included:
Information on fair trade and organic coffee
Restaurants within walking distance of LCOJ
Green Businesses of Green Bay
Information on the benefits of buying local and buying organic

Wisconsin Lawyer Magazine
|
 |
George Burnett was quoted in the October 2007 edition of Wisconsin Lawyer Magazine. In an article addressing the difficulty of recruiting lawyers to smaller communities, Burnett lends his insight stating,
"I think too many law students are under the false impression that if you want interesting, sophisticated, challenging legal work, you have to go to a large firm in a large city. But we read the same law books up here as they do in other parts of the state. And we deal with a blend of complicated and parochial legal problems every day."

2005
It's no coincidence that two of the area's highest rated attorneys work in the same firm. We are proud to announce the selection of Gregory Conway and George Burnett by Milwaukee Magazine as 2005 Wisconsin Super Lawyers. Greg and George are two of only a few attorneys in the Fox Valley to receive this honor. It is a great recognition of their talent and dedication.
Chosen from a pool of 12,600 attorneys, and selected by peers who have seen them in action, both Greg and George were honored for their skills as legal thinkers and expert litigators. With lawyers like this, it's no wonder we have become the area's largest law firm. We applaud Greg and George for the way they represent us and our clients.
